About GO FAR®: Inspiring Healthier Futures Through Running

In 2003, Physician Assistant Robin Lindsay created the GO FAR (Go Out For A Run)® program to inspire kids to embrace healthy living. Working with young adults who were already showing signs of chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, Lindsay realized the need for early intervention. As a runner herself, she combined her passion for fitness with her desire to make a difference in children’s lives.

I felt compelled to help, even in a small way,” says Lindsay.

GO FAR started as a simple, 8-10 week program to teach children about healthy eating, goal setting, and training for a 5K. What began in one school in High Point, NC with just 16 kids, has now grown to reach over 8,000 children annually across schools and after-school programs nationwide.

Why is GO FAR so successful?

We thought we'd just reach kids,” Lindsay says. “But we’ve seen families join in, teachers get inspired, and whole communities transform. You don’t need to be an athlete, just have the right attitude and a pair of running shoes!

Today, GO FAR is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, making it easy for teachers, parents, and coaches to create running clubs in schools and communities. With flexible, turnkey curricula and ongoing support, we help clubs thrive—whether in the classroom, at summer camps, or after-school.
